Footgolf is a sport that combines football with the rules of golf, creating an activity that's fun, challenging, and accessible to everyone. Played on a golf course with special, oversized holes, Footgolf is all about kicking a football from the starting point to the hole in as few kicks as possible. Whether you’re a football fan or a casual golfer, Footgolf offers a new way to enjoy time outdoors with family and friends in Bridgend.
How is Footgolf Played?
In Footgolf, the goal is simple: kick the ball into the hole using the fewest strokes possible. Each hole starts with a kick from the tee area. As in golf, the game involves strategy, aiming to avoid course obstacles and keep the ball on a straight path to the hole. Each kick is counted as a stroke, so players try to minimize kicks for the best score.
Footgolf can be played on dedicated courses or modified golf courses, like ours at Bridgend Golf & FootGolf, where we tailor the course for maximum enjoyment while preserving the natural landscape.
Key Rules of Footgolf
Footgolf has a few basic rules to keep play fair and enjoyable:
Kicking Off: Start from the tee area, with each kick counting as one stroke.
Turn Order: The player farthest from the hole always kicks next.
Out of Bounds: Going out of bounds or hitting hazards incurs a penalty stroke.
Scoring: The player with the fewest strokes at the end of the course wins.
Why Play Footgolf?
Footgolf is accessible to all ages and skill levels, making it perfect for families, friends, or corporate events. Unlike traditional golf, Footgolf is easy to learn, yet it still offers a competitive edge for those who enjoy a challenge. Bridgend Golf & FootGolf provides a beautiful course layout, ensuring fun and challenge for everyone.
Footgolf Equipment and Dress Code
To play Footgolf, all you need is a football (size 5) and comfortable clothing. Bridgend Golf & FootGolf has balls available to rent if you don’t have your own. Trainers or turf shoes work best, as golf cleats aren’t allowed to protect the course.
